Tell Your Face to Smile!
It’s a funny thing, when you watch people about their business and daily life, most have a very solemn, stern, serious look to them. In fact, more often than not it might be difficult to see the difference between that and a sad face. Why is that, because we are so engrossed in ourselves, life and business, because there is nothing to smile about, why be happy when I’m on my own or just a simple lack of awareness?
The impact a smile can have an amazing impact when shared. So, I’d like to now challenge you to make it a habit. I want you to actively smile both inwardly and exhibit one, in other words whatever you are doing tell your face. Yes, it’s that simple, you can lift your spirits by simply telling your face you are happy and smiling. There is a fact that happiness increases your level and quality of productivity. Don’t believe me, go and try it out now for the rest of the day!
But Steve there are occasions I generally don’t feel happy!
Yes, there will be and when it’s a truly sad occasion, which warrants true sadness then you have a choice. Fake it or don’t turn up. Sorry if that sounds a little stark, but then this is actually a success habit. Let’s try an experiment right now, take a moment and smile, strike a big fat cheesy grin, right across your face. Lifts your spirits doesn’t it? We choose to be sad, as we choose with most of our emotions, it’s really about making the right choice for you.
Now sadly I have had to say goodbye to many along the way, attended many funerals. Each and everyone has been a solemn occasion until the wake. At which point the only way I can really explain them is ‘funforall’, a celebration of life. So we even want people to be happy and celebrate our life when we’re gone. My advice is don’t wait that long get celebrating now with a simple, yet effective smile slapped across your face.
Now I raise the issue of funerals because they are probably one of those occasions where we feel sadness. I’m fully aware there are a myriad of reasons we feel sadness, anxiety, fear etc etc, my point here is to make a decision. What emotion serves you best? Happiness, so tell your face, smile and make a positive shift daily.
Now there’s a challenge!!
