Failure Expected And Realised
All too often fear will lock you away in your comfort zone in a bid to protect you. You will not seek to expand or challenge yourself because it’s nice in your comfort zone, it’s safe in your comfort zone no one can bother you in your comfort zone.
Now whilst being in the comfort zone is a nice place you’ll never reach your true potential whilst you hide there. To reach your true potential you’ll need to confront your fears head-on. Doing that will actually expand your comfort zone and that will require you to step out of it.
Failure Expected And Realised (FEAR) is not the most widely used acronym in relation to discussions about fear. However, it does go some way to sum up the source of fear. Being fearful of an outcome which may happen or, more likely, may not happen. Essentially the major cause of what I term your interFEARence. The reasons in your head you don’t act, commit or get out there and have a go.
Today more often than not fear can be an irrational emotion, if left to its own devices, derail your progress, stop you from achieving what is truly possible.
The challenge is to embrace and confront your interFEARence in a continued bid to stretch the bounds of your comfort zone. How rational are your fears in your business? How much do you hold back on committing to the growth of your business as a result? Reflect on this question and establish just how much interFEARence is holding you back.
If you weren’t afraid of failure or being judged where would you be now and what would you have achieved?
Now there’s a challenging thought!
