The Infinite Game, by Simon Sinek

Simon has followed up his other bestsellers, Start with Why and Leaders Eat Last with this masterpiece. The Infinite Game looks at applying game theory to the business world. Throughout Simon challenges you in regards to how you see life, politics, and business. It’s not about the end game but rather the long eternal game. As you read and relate to the infinite game you’ll start to see this opens up opportunities you may not have realised. It may be that right now you may have a finite mindset and don’t even realise it. Well if you’re open to make a shift and exploring with Simon the potential of an infinite mindset this book will offer you insight.

They Ask You Answer, by Marcus Sheriden

Marcus shares a refreshing look at marketing and which could revolutionise your marketing. Often the challenge with marketing is that much of it doesn’t work. Then it starts to feel extremely expensive, generally because we just don’t know what’s working and what’s not. In ‘They Ask You Answer’ it is quite simply a case of determining what your prospects are asking and then through your content creation and marketing answering them.  Now whilst there is a little to learn about the strategy in the simplest of terms you need to start answering your prospects questions and building trust.

Building a Story Brand, by Donald Miller

This book really does challenge you to re-think the purpose of your marketing from all angles. Donald shares a wealth of knowledge from the greatest storytellers on the planet, the movie makers. He offers you a process where you can take a new look at what it is you do and how to reach your market place. From the perspective of understanding the hero, guide and villain your business will create a crystal clear position to market.  This a must-read to take your marketing to the next level and to really understand what it is you do in your business.

Essentialism, by Greg McKeown

If like me you’d never heard of essentialism then this may be of interest to you, especially if you need more efficiency. Greg McKeown will show you where you are getting in your own way and stifling your efficiency. If you’re someone who never has enough hours in the day you need to read this. Maybe you are the default setting to all things, read this. Never seem to be able to say NO, then you have to read this. In short, if you are the busiest person in your life, guess what, you need to read this. This is a brilliant book which offers not only a solution to your inefficiency, also the reason behind it.

Pulling Profits, by Brad Sugars

Now, this is a very interesting business book. Brad challenges the business owner reader, YOU, to really consider scaling your business. Though, he’ll take away the myth and mirth in relation to business success being about right place right time. Lucky. He’ll guide you through the principles towards building a business with a focus on adding zeros at every level and part of the business. He also uses evidence from the great business out there today who have shown the way. So now it’s down to you to set the motion in progress.

Collective Genius

As my top 5 book reviews aren’t to be read in isolation but rather collectively. As you complete one book and move onto the next you’ll see they offer an approach to scaling your business with infinite opportunity and resilience for the future. I hope this is a helpful reading list and one to kick-off 2020.

Now if you’re someone who struggles with finding the time to read, then maybe you should start here and establish your ‘Power Hour‘.
